Who I Am and What I Do

My Story

I’ve been practicing holistic health care for what seems like forever. As a child, a kindly veterinarian taught me about therapeutic nutrition for my dog following an accidental overdose in a holiday trash can. My next puppy came to me nearly hairless and covered in a rash. I quickly discovered she was allergic to grass and learned how diet and environment can compound against health. Once I eliminated wheat and switched to a rice-based food, she grew a thick, glossy coat and began to play in the backyard with the other animals.

A few years later as a new mother, my son developed recurrent ear congestion that a host of specialists could not resolve. Antibiotics, decongestants, and nasal rinses didn't stop the congestion from forming. Surgically implanted tubes would just be pushed out by more fluids building up behind his eardrum. My pediatrician mentioned that he didn't have an infection, just constant congestion. That was interesting, but none of the doctors asked the question that kept me up at night: What was causing the congestion?

The increasingly long line of drugs on my counter did nothing more than make the symptoms go away for a day or two. Overall, he looked worse than ever. Dark rings formed around his tired eyes and his skin looked pale regardless of the season. His snoring kept us all up at night. By the time he was 11, his ears and part of his mastoid had rotted out - major surgery was necessary to restore his hearing. When he came out of surgery I learned they'd removed his adenoids as well. I was crushed. I felt like a failure as a mother. I'd done everything I was told and it just kept getting worse.

One of the most common phrases in the Bible is "But God-" My son's story wasn't over. The surgeon recommended I look into homeopathy as he healed. This was the turning point.

Within the year, an allergist suggested I do some research on milk and an elderly pediatrician encouraged me to look for other possible food sensitivities. I consulted with Doris Rapp, MD, and learned how to sleuth out problems in the environment as a whole. I read everything I could about nutrition and healing and applied it to my family. A retired immunologist at a church campout spent an entire afternoon explaining lymph and how to encourage a strong immune system. I implemented each tidbit as it came along and recurring illness faded along with the dark eye circles. My son was not only well; he had the nutritional tools to keep himself well.

Never again would I be at the mercy of disease coming out of thin air to hunt my children. I had learned the power available to me in my kitchen.

Several years later when my life was threatened by a spider in my barn, I met my first naturopath. He showed me how effectively the body can work when given the tools it needs to detox and drain, to nurture healing rather than trying to fight the infection. For the first time, I was respected as a person - I wasn't a disease to be stripped, poked and prodded. The only side effect I experienced was the disappearance of an old eye injury. I felt better than I had in over a decade - and I was hooked.

In 2017, I earned my Naturopathic Doctor certification from Trinity School of Natural Health. By 2023 when most of my children had fledged the nest, I added a Traditional Naturopath certification from the Institute of Holistic Integrative Studies and began seeing people outside of my family. I am fascinated with the many ways the body can heal and spend time every day furthering my knowledge. I board cerified with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners in March, 2025.

As a Naturopath, I love educating and empowering mothers, especially, to understand how to truly help their families. I focus on nutrition and homeopathy because they give lasting results while being easy and safe to use with children. Phototherapy patches are a recent addition to many of my protocols to speed and enhance results.

I will walk beside you on your journey, individualizing a plan to ensure that you don't get lost or fall off the path. I will teach you how to maintain your results on your own - but will always be here if you want to check in!

I have six grown (homeschooled) children,  two granddaughters, one husband and three dogs. In my spare time, I write educational articles for the National Homeopathic Products Certification Board

Homeopathic Treatment
Quote about health by David Stelzer from Azure Standard
×´There is more to health than applying the prescribed pharmaceutical for whatever condition you are diagnosed with. I believe there’s a lot to be gained by looking at the tried-and-true, and what has worked over many generations.×´
